Teacher Salary Survey 2007
Utah ranked 40th in the nation for its average teacher salary in 2006-07, according to the American Federation of Teachers’ (AFT) Survey andA11a1ysis of Teacher Salary Trends 2007. Released today.
The average teacher salary in Utah for the 2006-07 school year was $37,775—a 0.6 percent increase from the previous year. Utah was ranked 43rd in the nation for beginning teacher salaries, at $28,653, an increase of 4.4 percent from 2005-06.
In Utah, the average salary for charter school teachers was $32,847; beginning charter school teachers' salaries averaged $28,946.
Traditional public school teacher salaries for other states in the Rocky Mountains Region ranked as follows: Wyoming was ranked 16th in the nation, at $50,771; Colorado was 28th, at $45,832; Idaho was 30th, at $45,094; and Montana was 44th, at $41,146.
California had the highest average teacher salary, at $63,640, while South Dakota reported the lowest, at $35,378. |
