Teacher Salary Survey 2007
Texas ranked 29th in the nation for its average teacher salary in 2006-07, according to the American Federation of Teachers’ (AFT) Survey and Analysis of Teacher Salary Trends 2007.
The average teacher salary in Texas for the 2006-07 school year was $45,392-a 7.5 percent increase from the previous year. Texas was ranked 10th in the nation for beginning teacher salaries, at $38,522, an increase of 10.4 percent from 2005-06.
Traditional public school teacher salaries for other states in the Southwest Region ranked as follows: Arizona was ranked 31st in the nation, at $44,700; New Mexico was 40th, at $42,780; and Oklahoma was 41st, at $42,379.
California had the highest average teacher salary, at $63,640, while South Dakota reported the lowest, at $35,378. |
