Qualifications:  REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Spanish, Special Education, or Education with an endorsement in Spanish. • Current Virginia Teaching License or possibility of obtaining licensure (provisional or permanent) prior to start date. • Current certification in Therapeutic Options, and the ability to carry out the procedure correctly (training provided during New Hire Orientation and yearly recertification). • Current certification in Adult and Child First Aid, CPR, and AED (training provided during New Hire Orientation). • Successful completion of Dominion Youth Services’ annual employee trainings (Bloodborne Pathogens, HIPPA, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control, Human Rights, Unlawful Harassment Prevention, Mandated Reporting, Cultural Competency, Defensive Driving, Driver Safety Policy, and Employee Manual) • Successful completion of Child Abuse/Recognition Training • Completion of tuberculosis screening within 30 days of employment.

Description:  • Design coherent instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter • Design appropriate and differentiated instruction for both the general/regular curriculum in the appropriate subject area(s), and differentiated instruction for the special education, and adaptive curriculum. • Plans instruction to achieve desired IEP goals and objectives, and objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning. • Assess individual, group, and program needs, and selects appropriate materials and resources to match the abilities and needs of all students. • Uses a variety of assessment strategies and instruments to make both short-term and long-term instructional decisions to improve student learning. • Identifies and communicates specific student performance expectations and documents student learning gains using appropriate assessment instruments. • Understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and is able to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student’s needs. • Uses comprehensive materials, technology, and resources that promote the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills. • Selects, evaluates, and refines a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies for the active engagement of students and improvement of student learning. • Actively implements a discipline policy that fosters a safe and positive environment for students and staff. • Establishes and maintains professional rapport with students and staff. • Creates a supportive learning environment for all students • Uses effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques to foster positive interactions in the classroom. • Develops partnerships with families to promote student learning at home and in the school. • Works collaboratively with staff, families, and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population. • Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions. • Takes responsibility for and participates in a meaningful and continuous process of professional development that results in the enhancement of student learning. • Works collaboratively with peers, school personnel, and the community to promote and support student learning.

Salary:  commensurate with experience
