TEACHER INTERVIEW

          Teacher Relationship With Colleagues
What needs and/or expectations do you have of the school administration?
I feel like the school administration has an obligation to the teaching staff to communicate with us and keep us informed of events concerning students.

What quality or qualities do you have that would enhance our teaching staff?
I am energetic and hard-working and talented in many areas.

          Relationship With Parents
What do you feel is the most effective way to communicate with parents?
The most effective way is to communicate with parents face to face.

Following the issuance of report cards, a parent comes to your classroom
angry about the grades you gave their child. How will you handle the parent?

I will show them a report of grades and also show them any documentation that I have made concerning their child's behavior. I will then give them the opportunity to visit the classroom or either videotape the class to see exactly how their child is behaving.

          Relationship With Students
What type of students could you teach most effectively?
I am most effective teaching students who need that little extra belief that they can succeed.

How do you help students experience success?
By making it attainable. If the students are are given the tools, the ingredients and the recipe they can cook anything. But if one spice is left out, the food may still be edible, but with the spice it is exceptional. I give my students what they need to be exceptional.

How would you challenge the slow learner and the advanced learner within the same class?
Pair the slow and advanced learner together. have the advanced student help the slower student. The slower student is challenged by any assignment, but giving the advanced student the opportunity to go over it, and explain in his own way the assignment, helps keep him challenged.

          Instructional Techniques
How do you handle discipline problems?
I have found that if the classroom rules are discussed in the beginning, and posted. If unacceptable behavior arises a discussion of the behavior is held and a logical consequence is administered.

What rules do you have for your classroom?
Respect for all, cheating is not an option, and effort is required.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy is that all children can learn. Creativity, repetition, and ownership. Students who have active participation in their own learning are more apt to want to learn and succeed.
