Qualifications:
Professional experience as a Spanish-English/ English-Spanish translator and/or interpreter with appropriate certification; native-level proficiency in both languages; a doctorate or equivalent degree; the ability to teach dual-language translation and interpretation theory, methodology and practice; substantial teaching experience in higher education; record of scholarship and publications; familiarity with the pertinent professional networks; excellent organizational and communication skills.
Description:
The Department of Romance Languages seeks applicants to fill a new faculty line as Assistant Professor of Spanish (tenure track) and Coordinator of the new major concentration in Spanish-English/English-Spanish Translation & Interpretation beginning January 2006.
Coordination of the new major concentration; teaching one course per semester; recruiting and advising students; serving as liaison with the translation/interpretation professional community; working with the Spanish Curriculum Committee on the program�s development; setting up an interpretation laboratory.
Salary:
$35,031-$61,111
