Qualifications:
Must have completed an approved teacher certification program with student teaching. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 requires that all public elementary, middle and secondary school teachers who are teaching in core academic subjects meet the requirements of a �highly qualified� teacher. The term �core academic subjects� means: English, reading or language arts, mathematics, science, foreign languages, civics and government, economics, arts, history, and geography. �Arts� is defined by Nevada state regulation as music, visual arts and theater. �Social studies� is defined by Nevada state statute as history, government (civics), economics and geography. You must have a bachelor�s degree and a Nevada state teaching license with a major in the area of assignment and pass the appropriate competency test prior to employment.
